CultureThe Press and Cultural Affairs (PCZ) departments of both the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Canberra and the Consulate-General in Sydney are involved in Holland Promotion in the broadest sense of the word and also maintain local and Dutch press contacts in Australia.
Holland Promotion areas are e.g.:
- the promotion of the Dutch language and culture;
- assisting in the preservation of the Dutch national cultural heritage in Australia;
- enlarging on the Netherlands policy regarding sensitive areas such as abortion, euthanasia, drugs and prostitution;
- bringing to attention the Netherlands efforts in the field of international peace and security (e.g. the Dutch military participation – together with Australia – in Afghanistan);
- bringing to attention the Netherlands efforts in the field of internationally promoting the rule of law conform the notion of ‘The Hague, legal capital of the world’.
- promoting visits to the Netherlands.
The Press and Cultural Affairs departments have a modest budget at their disposal to support projects of Netherlands artists, writers and performers in Australia.
Requests for financial support through this program should be addressed to the
Consulate-General in Sydney for projects taking place in New South Wales and to the
Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Canberra for the other States and Territories.
