The Defence Attaché

• is the highest appointed military representative of the Royal Netherlands Ministry of Defence, Royal Netherlands Army, Royal Netherlands Navy, Royal Netherlands Air Force and Royal Netherlands Marechaussee in Australia.

• is the primary contact for issues concerning the Royal Netherlands Ministry of Defence.

• keeps interested parties in The Hague informed about developments and trends in the Australian Defence Force Policy in general as well as within the I Army, Navy, Air Force.

• maintains close contact with various representatives of the Ministry of Defence and of Australian Defence Forces and with foreign accredited attaché's in Australia.

• is the primary contact for Australia and industrial representatives for issues concerning the Royal Netherlands Army, Navy, Air Force and Marechaussee.

The Australian and Netherlands Armed Forces have a very close operational relation due the operation in Uruzgan, Afghanistan.
