Welcome to the website of the Netherlands representations in Australia.

“Holland-Australia, bridging the distance.” That is the motto of our organisation.  Although the distance between the Netherlands and Australia is great, there are nonetheless enough reasons to work closer together. Just to name a few examples:

• More than 300,000 people in Australia are of Dutch descent;
• More than 53,000 Dutch persons travel to Australia yearly;
• The Netherlands and Australia work closely together in Afghanistan;
• We share mutual priorities in climate and environment issues;
• We are important trade and investment partners;
• We have close historical ties for more than 400 years.

In short, we have a lot to offer each other. We see it as our duty to make the most of the many opportunities and to be of optimum service to you.

An extensive mission network makes this possible. With an Embassy in the capital Canberra, a Consulate-General in Sydney and six honorary Consulates in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart and Papua New Guinea we can guarantee optimal service to the Dutch community.

Politically, economically and culturally we also work closely together with the Australian government, institutions and the business community to promote Dutch interests in this part of the world.  Important matters are a.o. the collaboration in Afghanistan and trade promotion in the environment sector, particularly in the fields of water, clean energy and sustainable building.

Dutch expertise in these fields is already well-known in Australia.

Our 400-year old historical ties offer great possibilities for cultural exchange.
